It was a great battle today today in Paris on the Jean-Bouin courts. Two young Australian’s vying for the last main draw valid card into the main draw at Roland Garros.

Fourlis got out of the gates quickly with penetrating backhands going cross-court through the side line. The first few games of the second set were very tight, with Jaimee able to remain calm under relentless pressure from her talented left handed opponent, Isabella Wallace.

In the end Fourlis was too strong coming through in straight sets with an impressive victory. The final score was 6/3 6/1.

It will be the first time the avid Collingwood supporter will playing the main draw singles at Roland Garros, a dream come true for a charismatic young lady who grew up playing on the Melbourne en-tout cas courts.  One of the things that is often overlooked when we talk about players successes is how much work their coach has put in behind the scenes for them to get to that winning position. A big congratulations to Jaimee’s coach Beti Sekulovski who has done an outstanding job over the past few years with one of Australia’s brightest stars. Wishing both Jaimee and Beti the best of luck for the main event.
