This course is designed for coaches working with female tennis players of all ages and levels. Through studying this course, coaches will be armed with a new understanding of the female player, enabling them to communicate better while facilitating common technical changes for capable athletic females. The information provided in this course will enhance knowledge of female physiology and anatomy. Coaches who complete the course will be certified as WTCA baseline level coaches.

All PTR members successfully completing the course will receive 24 MAP hours of credit toward their continuing education requirement (for the 2017- 2019 program term).

Section 1 : The Female Athlete

This section covers a number of critical areas that are unique to female athletes, particularly psychological approaches to teaching, motivation, dealing with social media, peer pressure, and more.

Section 2 : Language And Communication

These lessons extensively cover communication and language to use when coaching. Tips and guidance on pre/post match language, professional communication skills building and more.

Section 3 : Parents

When coaching young tennis players, dealing with parents can be a challenge. Learn how to deal with parental expectations, co-coaching, and relationship management, and other useful skills.

Section 4 : Food Choices And Body Image

These lessons will provide guidance on managing player nutrition planning, eating for different body types, and how to identify and approach possible eating disorders.

Section 5 : Female Physiology

Understanding female physiology is critical to success when coaching female athletes. These lessons cover a broad range of topics, including pubescent changes, hormones, menstrual cycles, vitamin D metabolism, and much more.

Section 6 : Physical Training

The physical training lessons cover common injuries and recovery, screenings, hips and core, and strength training, among others.

9 Lessons

Section 7 : Professionalism & Presentation

Professionalism and presentation are imperative to a coach’s success. It is unprofessional and inappropriate to discuss certain topics with their players. Ethics and legalities prohibit certain conversations and situations with female athletes.

Section 8 : COACH WELL-BEING AND BUILDING A PROFILE

In this module, coaches will learn the importance of networking in order to enhance their professional reputation. Coaches with a good work life balance will enjoy greater success.

Section 9 : Scheduling and Planning

Proper planning, goal setting and scheduled time off are crucial areas in a player’s development and success. The following are ways in which coaches can guide players to achieve their desired results.

Section 10 : On Court

Personality, and even more importantly, athletic ability and dedication will shape a player’s game style. In order for coaches to make changes to a player’s game, they will need to understand many areas, including movement, biomechanics and progressions.
